How to teach paragraph writing to your students?
You are only looking at the topic sentence! OR give students a paragraph without the topic sentence and have them add the topic sentence. After everyone is finished, students can present their paragraphs in groups or whole group and other students can point out the topic sentence. Discuss why it is a topic sentence.
When do you start paragraph writing in 1st grade?
Then comes the Spring and it’s time to embark on paragraph writing. One of the three main writing strands for 1st grade, our six-year old friends are expected to be able to introduce a topic, give and explain a detail, and then, wrap-up their thinking.
